Beware of Fraudulent SMS and Telephone Calls Requesting for
Banking and Credit Card Information |
MBF Cards would like to alert CardMembers to be vigilant when receiving any SMS or telephone calls claiming to originate from Bank Negara Malaysia or any financial institutions. Based on recent complaints received by Bank Negara Malaysia, there has been an increase in incidents of fraudsters sending SMS and making telephone calls to unknowing members of the public in order to deceivingly obtain their personal banking and credit card information, with the aim of siphoning monies from one's account.
It is important to note the following details: |
- There is no department called “Unit Kad Kredit Palsu” in Bank Negara Malaysia.
- 8659-xxxx is not a Bank Negara Malaysia telephone line.
- Bank Negara Malaysia will NEVER request for personal banking and credit card information via SMS or telephone calls.

In general, we wish to advise all CardMembers to be cautious of these fraudulent SMS and telephone calls and to be reminded not to disclose your personal banking and credit card information to any unknown party without verification.

Pay on Time with your MBF cards to Get Rewarded |
|
Effective 1 July 2008, MBF Cards will be introducing a credit card tiered interest rate scheme to all CardMembers, in an effort to promote prudent financial management on credit card spending and to instill good payment discipline among card users in Malaysia.
Paying your credit card on time has never been more rewarding. All CardMembers have to do is to settle their minimum credit card payment within the due date for a period of 12 consecutive months and you get to enjoy a lower tiered interest rate upon implementation of the scheme by MBF Cards. The table below illustrates the Interest Rate Tiers designed to reward prompt paying CardMembers. |

| Late Payment Interest |
If the minimum payment is not made by the payment due date, a late payment interest will be levied at 1% of the total balance outstanding as at your statement date or a minimum of RM10, whichever is higher (up to a maximum of RM100). |
| Interest Free Period for Retail Transactions |
No interest will be charged for 20 days from statement date if you have paid the full amount of your previous month retail transactions.
If you opt to pay partial or minimum repayment of your previous statement account, interest on your new retail transactions will be calculated from the day the transaction is posted to your card account. |
