A wholly owned subsidiary of MBf Holdings Berhad, MBF Cards (M'sia) Sdn Bhd is a leading credit and charge card issuer and merchants acquiring company in Malaysia.
MBF Cards incorporated on 5 August 1977. The company commenced operation in 1987 when its obtained an operating licence from MasterCard International Incorporated to embark on the credit card business.
MBF Cards is also the first mono-line and non-bank to be awarded with a VISA licence in Malaysia and the Asean region.
MBF Cards is governed under Payment Systems Act 2003 and is supervised by Payment System Policy Repayment, a unit of Bank Negara Malaysia. The company commenced its credit card lending after it was granted approval by Bank Negara Malaysia to issue MBF Cards’ own Line of Credit.
To support the business, MBF Cards has over 800 staff and a nationwide network of 26 branches inclusive of Sabah and Sarawak.
MBF Cards rolled out the first Visa "contactless" card in the world on April 27 2004, which allows card users to pay for purchases without the need for traditional "swipe and sign" but to just wave, pay and go. The wave function does not require any signature. |

It is one of the first to introduce EMV chip cards. EMV refers to the specifications issued by a joint venture between Europay International, MasterCard International and Visa International, covering the operation of Smart card payments.
It is a fully functional chip securely embedded with Cardmember's personal information.
MBF Cards is one of the share holder of BonusLink - the largest loyalty company in Malaysia.
On 1st May 2008, MBF Cards' headquarters in Kuala Lumpur moved to its brand new home at Menara MBf (previously known as Menara SPK) along Jalan Sultan Ismail. Comprising 18 floors, Menara MBf houses the MBF Cards headquarters, main Card Center, as well as the offices of MBf Holdings Berhad which is the parent company.
